The Texas State Capitol is located in downtown Austin. The building itself was completed in 1888 and has housed the official state government ever since. It has been declared a National Historic Landmark and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of America’s most recognizable buildings, known as “the people’s house” because it’s where so many Texans have gathered over the years to advocate for their causes and lobby for new legislation.
The Texas State Capitol is home to a number of historic rooms including the Great Hall, which opened in 1886, and the Senate Chamber, which was constructed in 1925. But, you don’t need to visit these rooms to enjoy this amazing building; it also houses several beautiful art galleries that are open to the public as well as two museums: The Legislative Reference Library and The John W. Thornton Sr. Gallery of History & Art.
The Texas State Capitol was completed in 1888 and is the largest state capitol building in the United States. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a National Historic Landmark. It was designed by architect Elijah E. Myers, who worked closely with Governor Sam Houston to create its design.
The Texas State Capitol is home to the Texas House of Representatives and Senate. The House of Representatives has 140 members, while the Senate has 31 members.
The Texas State Capitol also houses various offices for state government such as those for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Comptroller, Attorney General and others.

The Capitol Building was modeled after the U.S. Capitol building that’s located in Washington, D.C., but it has a lot of unique features as well.The Texas State Capitol was built using limestone and granite, which gives it a beautiful texture that’s consistent throughout the whole building. It has three floors with 17 rooms that range from small to large depending on what they were built for during their time of construction.
The grand dome on top of the Texas State Capitol is made out of aluminum with gold leafing on it, which makes it stand out against the surrounding stone structures around it. This dome can be seen from miles away and is one of the most iconic features of this beautiful building!
