The Colorado State Capitol building originally housed a Roman Catholic cathedral. It was constructed on the site of the old Cathedral, and was designed by John Nolen and completed in 1939. From 1868-1889, it was used as a Presbyterian church. In 1889, after the construction of the new St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in downtown Denver, it became the state capitol for Colorado.
